Friska Viljor – The Beginning of The Beginning of The End
by The Lovely Wars
Truth be told, I couldn’t review the role of water during rainfall, however I have managed to get my greeezyy paws on the new Friska Viljor album and I thought I should tell you all about it. It’s going to be my summer album of 2011, it’s ever so wonderful. Some songs make you feel like you’re racing through your village on an old bicycle (one that has a flag on the back, the kind you would see in The Wonder Years), waving at your friends, carefree, livin’ the dream, ringing the bell, ya know. There’s some boozy dancing in the streets, maybe a little street party? Yes, a street party and a band playing in the garden. A hazy Sunday afternoon mid-summer, a few cans and some bottles of vino. Dreamy.
Then there are those few that make you feel like you’re sat under a boardwalk, the moon a-shining a-bright, you’re sat there alone. Yes, you’re very much ALL ALONE. Sad times. It’s cold and it’s beginning to rain efff! And you have what one would describe as a broken heart. AND it hurts. Ouch. Now the tide is coming in. For goodness sake! There are pretty epic moments too, horn sections that would put a Fire in your Arcade, but also very sweet bouncy-toe-tap songs for that journey along the coast of San Fran.. One can dream. It seems that it’s not quite all pizza and fairytales for Friska Viljor, for they still have hurty hearts but it’s ok, you know, it’s actually going to be ok. Please oh please do purr-chase this lovely album, it’s released on April 11th and you can order it HERE. It will be the soundtrack to your summer, this I can promise.
